ThisPlace

ThisPlace is a performance developed within the frame of Performing Landscapes - Waterline, where six Aarhus based artists (Yael Gaathon, Katrine Faber, Mirko Guido, Nicola Visser, Barbara Simonsen, Tam Vibberstoft) perform along a path that follows the waterline from the mouth of the Aarhus Å to a prehistoric meeting place in Marselisborg Forest. Along the way, the audience encounters performance, sound and narration in interaction with the place.

The performance by Mirko Guido, ThisPlace, explores the sense of place and belonging in today's globalized world. Along the industrial port, where containers of all sizes, trucks, rails, barges and ships are in constant motion, the performer carries some sacks and ropes. He tries to move these heavy materials and himself in a continuous change of weight, direction and balance. As a body trapped and indirectly forced to follow the flow of capital. The work focuses on this relationship – the necessity to maintain the constant displacement, the weight and the effort of the body, the hidden work, and being trapped and dependent on this equilibrium that never finds a sustainable verticality.
